The iconic multi-talented Asni!

This is a wonderful double LP reissue from Brian at Awesome Tapes from Africa, recognising the cultural icon that was Asnakech Worku, a woman who challenged societal conventions, spoke her mind and lived her life under her own rules… and gained huge appreciation in the process.

An actress, singer, club owner and master of the Krar, she teamed up with the keyboardist and accordion player Hailu Mergia to create this recording in 1975.

This album though is all about Asnakech Worku, her Krar playing and her distinctive voice.
