Hailu Mergia recorded this instrumental gem in 1985, having resided in the United States from Addis Ababa. As a one-man band recording, he returned to his trusted accordion (the first instrument he learnt at the age of 14) mixing in Rhodes electric piano, Moog synthesiser and a rhythm machine. The result is a sound that feels futuristic, psychedelic and way ahead of it’s time.

Hailu draws from the songs and melodies of Amhara, Tigrinya and Oromo culture to produce a sound like nothing you’ve heard before! Super cool.
