A beautiful and funky instrumental rarity, resurfaces, and on vinyl!

Stereo Instrumental Music was recorded in July 1976 by the legendary Ibex Band and originally released only on cassette. We’ve never even seen an original.

Led by legendary bassist Giovanni Rico and guitarist Selam Seyoum Woldermarian, Ibex helped shape Ethiopian music in the ’70s and ’80s. They backed legends like Mulatu Astatke, Mahmoud Ahmed, Aster Aweke, and many more, recording over 200 albums and thousands of songs, much of it lost to time.

After Ibex, key members formed the Roha Band, and Giovanni still plays today at Mulatu’s African Jazz Village, bringing it full circle to the Ghion Hotel, once Ibex’s key residency.
