We’re honoured to stock this LP from Kibrom Birhane, it’s really something special!

After previously releasing a very limited run EP Kibrom puts together an album that feels like a complete musical journey, clearly reflecting his roots and musical origins with Ethio Jazz and traditional Ethiopian melodies and scales present, but fused with western jazz and African funk influences. This feels like a very personal journey, a trip we’re invited on that references growing up in Ethiopia and now living in the the U.S. We love the recording of a phone call with his Mum on the end of the track ‘Enate’ - a conversation of a loving Ethiopian Mum and son that is warming and so familiar.

Soft and delicate in places and uplifting and funky elsewhere. A classic album in the making, beautifully packaged with gatefold artwork. We’ve not taken this off the turntable since we got it!
